Resideo introduces its first-ever, two-way professionally installed and monitored wireless combination smoke/heat and carbon monoxide (CO) detector. The Honeywell Home SiXCOMBO detector is easy for dealers to install, and can provide part of an important life safety solution to help protect what matters most – people and their property. CO is a colorless, tasteless and odorless compound produced by incomplete combustion of carbon-containing materials, and is often referred to as a “silent killer” as it overtakes residents quickly, often resulting in serious illness or death. According to the Centers for Disease control and Prevention, each year more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning not linked to a fire, and more than 20,000 visit the emergency room with more than 4,000 hospitalized.

The SiXCOMBO utilizes the encrypted SiX™ Two-Way Wireless Technology for an increased level of security. With the “one-go-all-go” feature enabled, if a sensor in the basement, for example, detects danger and begins to sound, all sensors across that home will sound as well. The central station is automatically alerted so first responders have the opportunity to arrive quickly. To ensure continued protection, the system does an automatic performance check every 200 seconds.

With voice and visual displays, the SiXCOMBO helps provide safety that can be seen and heard. In addition to a built-in sounder, the multi-lingual voice alerts the occupant of the threat and announces what action should be taken. For example, if smoke is detected the “Warning, Smoke, Evacuate” notification will be heard. A multi-color LED provides a visual alert. For instance, a smoke alarm condition illuminates red and a CO alarm condition illuminates blue.

Using a number of sensors, the SiXCOMBO can distinguish between a real fire and a nuisance issue, such as burning toast. An infrared (IR) flame sensor measures ambient light levels and flame signatures, while thermal detection monitors temperature. Automatic drift compensation of smoke and CO sensors accommodates for dust build-up over time. Plus, the 10-year lifespan helps provide years of reliable service.

With multiple functions in a single device, the SiXCOMBO is aesthetically pleasing to the homeowner, and can help reduce installation time and cost for the dealer. In addition, the device can be configured remotely as needed, minimizing onsite visits.

The SiXCOMBO works with Lyric™ Controller and Gateway Home Control platform.
