Ring unveils multiple products at CES 2019

Company introduces New Sensors, Smart Locks, Voice Control, Smart Lighting and Door View Cam

Ring made multiple new product and functionality announcements at CES, including a widely expanded sensor network for its Ring Alarm systems. 

The Ring Alarm sensors make it easier for homeowners to monitor for smoke, carbon monoxide, flooding, freezing temperatures, intruders, and more. The company also announced that several smart locks from providers including Kwikset, Schlage and Yale, which connect to the Ring Alarm Base Station and integrate with Ring Alarm and other security devices via the Ring app. Ring Alarm also integrates with Alexa-enabled devices so users can arm and disarm their Alarm as well as lock and unlock their doors by speaking to Alexa.

Ring Alarm sensors now available include: 

  • Smoke & CO Listener ($35): This sensor connects to your Ring Alarm Base Station and sends alerts to your mobile device whenever your existing smoke or CO detectors are triggered.
  • Flood & Freeze Sensor ($35): This sensor, placed near any water source in the home, connects to your Ring Alarm Base Station and sends an alert to your mobile device when water or freezing temperatures are detected.
  • Dome Siren ($30): This siren connects to your Ring Alarm Base Station and sounds off and flashes a light whenever a security event occurs, so you are alerted of an alarm event no matter where you are in the home.
  • First Alert Z-Wave Smoke/CO Alarm ($40): This alarm connects to your Ring Alarm Base Station and notifies you on your mobile device if smoke or carbon monoxide is detected.

Additionally, the company introduced Ring Smart Lighting, an affordable, easy-to-install network of outdoor, motion-sensing lights that work together to illuminate dark areas around the home. When they detect motion, the Smart Lights turn on, trigger one another, and can send notifications via the Ring app on a mobile device. They can also integrate with Ring Doorbells and Cams so that when one camera or Smart Light detects movement on your property, the other Smart Lights turn on and all cameras begin recording. The product is expected to begin shipping in March 2019. 

Finally, Ring Door View Cam is a wire-free video doorbell that transforms a door viewer into a smart security device. It is easily installed in place of the existing door viewer or peephole and does not require drilling or permanent modifications to your home or door. To install, simply remove the existing door viewer, install the Door View Cam in its place on each side of the door, pop in the rechargeable battery and removable faceplate, and you will have transformed your old door viewer into a smart security camera. Ring Door View Cam will feature motion detection, two-way talk, 1080p HD video, a removable, rechargeable battery, door activity detection, and night vision, making it perfect for any home with a door viewer - especially apartments and rentals.
