The National Biometric Security Project (NBSP) has made a major step in its goal of helping government and private sector businesses use biometrics to deter attacks thanks to it recent award of GSA contract.

The NBSP, on Tuesday, announced that it had received a 5-year Professional Engineering Services (PES) contract by the GSA to assist in professional services for identity assurance. The contract number for reference is GS-23F-0259R.

The NBSP's primary duty has been the testing and research of biometric identifiers, and in doing so, has established the Test, Research and Data Center (TRDC), located in Morgantown, W.V.

John Siedlarz, chairman and CEO of the NBSP said that the addition of the non-profit organization to the GSA Schedule "will facilitate government organizations' ability to access a robust range of capabilities that
include: test and evaluation; training and education; data services and research and acquisition support services."

The NBSP is online at target="_blank">www.nationalbiometric.org.
