McAfee releases list of the Internet's most dangerous celebrities
--
Jessica Biel passed Brad Pitt as the most dangerous celebrity to search for on the Net, according to McAfee, the Internet security firm, which today announced the results of its third annual report on the riskiest celebrities on the Web
Fans searching for "Jessica Biel" or "Jessica Biel downloads," "Jessica Biel wallpaper," "Jessica Biel screen savers," "Jessica Biel photos" and "Jessica Biel videos" have a one in five chance of landing at a Web site that's tested positive for online threats, such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses and other malware, McAfee says.
Online criminals often use celebrity names and images to lure people searching for related content to rogue sites offering free downloads laced with malicious software.
The top 5 A-list celebs joining Biel as risky search subjects are: Beyonce (No. 2 for the second year in a row), Jennifer Aniston, Tom Brady and Jessica Simpson, in that order. Gisele Bundchen (the world's highest-paid supermodel), Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, Ashley Tisdale and Brad Pitt round out the top 10. Reese Witherspoon came in at No. 11; Britney Spears eeked in at No. 12; followed by Rihanna, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian to finalized the 15 top spots.
McAfee reports that the first couple of Barack and Michelle Obama are relatively safer celebrity subjects to search for online, ranking at 34th and 39th, respectively.
