Competing Samsung houses Samsung Techwin America and Samsung | GVI Security Solutions announced this morning that they will be joining forces for representing Samsung products. The move follows an announcement that Samsung Techwin has acquired Samsung Electronics Company's video security products and that Samsung Techwin and the Samsung Electronics Video Security Products were being merged. The company is now dropping the "Techwin" and "Electronics" names distinctions for the video security products and will be marketing itself purely as Samsung. Samsung Techwin and Samsung | GVI Security Solutions are forming what they called a strategic partnership for representing Samsung's products.
JW Ahn, the president and CEO of Samsung Techwin America said that the move doubles the resources that Samsung can put toward security. "It will allow us to effectively increase the Video Security Products business and technological capabilities of both companies into a stronger, singularly focused digital video security systems organization," Ahn said.
According to a statement from Samsung | GVI Security Solutions' CEO Steve Walin, the existing product lines will continue to be sold until the two units have developed a single Samsung product line (Samsung Techwin American and Samsung | GVI Security Solutions previously sold different product families.
As part of the partnership between the companies, Samsung | GVI Security Solutions is changing its name to Samsung Security. The two companies will jointly operate in Argentina, Brazil and Chile; in the rest of Latin America, sales will be handled by Samsung Security (formerly GVI).
