Alliances Forged

  • Magnasphere Corp. and George Risk Industries, Inc. have aligned to provide packaging and marketing of Magnasphere's security switch technology. The patented technology utilizes the principle of spherical magnetism to provide security contacts that are resistant to magnetic tamper and defeat, permanent contact welding, and the hermetically sealed metal construction makes them virtually indestructible. The same level of magnetic tamper protection required by the government is now available to homeowners. Fore more information, visit www.magnaspherecorp.com.
  • Software House, part of Tyco Fire & Security's Access Control and Video Systems business unit, has also formed an alliance with iWay Software. The two companies will work together to provide a solution for businesses looking to link enterprise applications, such as ERP human resource systems including SAP, Peoplesoft, Lawson and others, with access control systems. With this integrated system, personnel employment status will automatically be linked with access privileges ensuring that non-employees will not have access to any company facilities. # 1 in the Nation
Vector Security's softball team has claimed the Pennsylvania State Title and ended the season ranking #1 in the nation. Comprised of members throughout the state of Pennsylvania, Vector's team won the state title in 2003 but placed 7th in national competition. In 2004, the team roared back to win both the state and national titles.

The team's level of play?the Men's Over 45 division?discredits the notion that when you grow older you lose competitive spirit or ability. While many sponsors of their size prefer to back major sporting events because of audience recognition, Vector's sports sponsorship program includes the role of community based sports. Mike Grady, Senior Vice President of Vector Security says "In addition to sponsoring Busch Series NASCAR and other Tennis and Skiing events, sponsoring this team allows us to help prove just how much they could accomplish. We look at sports sponsorships in much the same way we do our business philosophy. The prominence of a sport or its number of fans matters less to us than our ability to help talented amateurs and professionals make their dreams come true." Go team!

    Edwards is Acquired
GE Infrastructure, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), subject to regulatory approvals, will acquire Edwards Systems Technology (EST), the fire detection systems business of SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW) for $1.395 billion in an all-cash transaction." By combining Edwards' technology and channel strength with the broader security offerings of GE, we can now offer an integrated facility management solution. This represents a new, $10 billion industry opportunity. We see significant revenue and cost synergies with this combination, and expect the acquisition to be accretive to GE's 2005 earnings," says Bill Woodburn, President and CEO of GE Infrastructure. GE's acquisition of Edwards is significant because fire detection systems are the only security devices that are required as part of the building specification in new construction projects. Consequently, fire detection systems play a central role in the design and specification of overall security systems. For more information, visit www.gesecurity.com.
