Waggener Edstrom Worldwide Global Public Affairs Advisory Council Member Joins Department of Homeland Security Advisory Committe

WASHINGTON , April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel W. Caprio Jr. , Global Public Affairs Advisory Council member for Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WE), is the newest member of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.

As a member of the DHS Advisory Committee, Caprio will serve through January 2010 .

Caprio brings an extensive background of expertise in privacy issues to the committee. As an Advisory Council member for the WE Global Public Affairs Practice he provides strategic counsel to the practice and its clients on a range of issues affecting business, government policy and public debate.

Caprio is also president and CEO of DC Strategies LLC. He served as chief privacy officer and deputy assistant secretary for Technology Policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In those roles Caprio managed all activities concerning the creation and execution of federal privacy laws, policies and practices. Before founding DC Strategies, Caprio was president of the Progress & Freedom Foundation.

Before that, he served six years as chief of staff to Federal Trade Commissioner Orson Swindle , where he worked as principal technology policy advisor with emphasis on information security, privacy and global electronic commerce.
