Mayor Newsom Launches Enrollment of Clear(R) Airport Security Fast Pass at San Francisco International Airport

Aug. 16, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO , Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clear(R), the leading service provider of registered traveler (RT) lanes at U.S. airports, announced yesterday with Mayor Gavin Newsom the opening of two Clear enrollment stations at San Francisco International Airport. The fast pass lanes will serve all travelers at the Airport beginning next month. San Francisco marks the beginning of a widespread expansion for the program.

"Now passengers at San Francisco International Airport can take advantage of Clear's airport security fast-pass program, an offering that combines technology and good customer service," said Mayor Gavin Newsom . "The service will help participating travelers speed through checkpoints safely and securely."

Clear's enrollment stations at San Francisco International are located in Terminals One and Three. Their hours of operation are 5 AM to 10 PM daily. Clear will expand enrollment to the International Terminal this fall. In addition to the enrollment station within the airport, Clear has deployed enrollment kiosks at the Hyatt Regency (Embarcadero) to bring convenience and speed in applying for the airport fast pass program to the city's business travelers. Clear's enrollment station at the Hyatt is open weekdays from 7 AM to 7 PM .

Clear has enrolled over 55,000 travelers nationwide. It provides members with access to a separate, faster line through airport security checkpoints by using an identity card containing their encrypted fingerprint or iris images. The annual fee of $99.95 is charged once applicants are pre-screened and approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Applicants start their enrollment at flyclear.com and complete the process in person at an enrollment location where their biometrics (fingerprints and iris images) are captured and their identifications are checked for validity.

"We're delighted that the City of San Francisco has pushed for this cutting-edge innovation for its frequent fliers," said Steven Brill , founder and CEO of Clear. " San Francisco is a major international and national gateway for millions of Bay Area business travelers and it is an important addition to the Clear network."

Brill added, "We have already seen enrollment in the Clear program spike on the announcement of San Francisco's desire to launch a program. Now that it is a reality, enrollments across the country and especially in the region have accelerated. Given the tremendous demand from area businesses, which are providing the Clear card for their travelers, San Francisco , like San José, will be among our top enrollment airports in the country."

San Francisco joins Clear's growing national network. Clear cards are now or will soon be accepted at: Albany , Cincinnati , Indianapolis , LaGuardia, Little Rock , New York JFK, Newark , Orlando , Reno, San Jose , and Westchester. Other airports expected to launch RT programs this fall include Washington, DC (Reagan and Dulles), Denver , and Atlanta , all of whom have issued or, in the case of Atlanta , are about to issue Requests for Proposals. Because of the TSA's requirement that all RT cards be interoperable, Clear cards will be recognized at all of these airports no matter which service provider wins these bids.

Clear is already marketing and, in some cases, setting up enrollment stations in each of these key cities, and using national marketing partnerships with major travel companies and hotel chains, such as Hyatt Hotels and AirTran Airways, to supplement these efforts. Any Clear card purchased at any location can be used at all participating airports.
