Online video shows how to build Ethernet cables

Jan. 4, 2008
Covers topics like proper connections, adding RJ-45 connectors

A new video from TigerDirect and CablesToGo should be on your viewing list. The video shows how to cut, connect and install Ethernet cables, and is hosted on Sclipo, a video website similar to YouTube.

The video uses a Cat6 cable spool and addresses issues like color standards, adding RJ-45 connectors, cutting the outside sheath, and more.

It's a handy video for the basics of cable installations, especially as the security community turns toward Cat 5 and Cat 6 Ethernet cable usage for today's network connected physical devices.
