VeriTainer Corp. Announces Successful Completion of 100% Cargo Radiation Scanning Field Test at Port of Oakland

Nov. 28, 2007

NEW YORK, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In New York City at the 2007 Maritime Security Expo, VeriTainer Corporation, the world leader in crane-mounted radiation scanning announced the successful completion of its second field test, the Oakland Pilot Project II (OPPII). Operating at the Howard Terminal in Oakland , California since April 2, 2007 , the production-ready VeriSpreader(TM) handled 24,178 "lifts" while simultaneously passively scanning each container for its nuclear and radiological qualities. The VeriSpreader(TM) has now established itself as the industry standard for 100% crane-mounted scanning.

The OPPII conclusively demonstrated the efficiency, durability and seamlessness to be effective in the harshest and busiest port environments. The uninterrupted performance of the VeriSpreader(TM) since April easily surpasses recognized spreader maintenance cycles. This kind of reliability means that port operators and steamship lines can focus on the swift movement of freight without the threat of a breakdown in operations.

During the course of the OPPII, VeriTainer has demonstrated its capabilities to visitors from around the world. "The response to the VeriSpreader product demonstration has been overwhelmingly positive," said VeriTainer Corporation CEO and Chairman John Alioto . "Ports, steamship operators, customs and security authorities from around the world have seen the scanning program, and we expect many to adopt this solution in the very near future. We must constantly look to address the critical need of securing our domestic and international ports without compromising business efficiency. The VeriSpreader has emerged as the only truly viable tool for addressing by exception rather than rule the danger of nuclear terrorism delivered by container."

The VeriSpreader's(TM) patented technology assures that whether inbound or outbound, whether by truck, rail, short sea or transshipment, containerized cargo will be scanned because it must pass through the crane to be loaded or discharged to/from the oceangoing vessel. The VeriSpreader(TM) resolves the two most pressing issues for scanning: (1) next generation 100% inbound scanning per the SAFE Port Act and (2) reciprocity for our global neighbors for 100% Country of Origin scanning per the 9/11 Act.

The OPPII VeriSpreader(TM) is ready for delivery. With typical spreader bar delivery time of 4 to 6 months, VeriTainer Corp. can take orders of up to 100 bars. VeriTainer is also actively working in design and production of next generation VeriSpreaders(TM) that are expected to include all of the most up to date spreader bar technology and configurations from partners around the world.

VeriTainer Corp. and QinetiQ North America recently announced an agreement to deliver an integrated port security offering combining the benefits of the VeriSpreader with QinetiQ's systems integration services, technology, and global experience in security.
