2008 ArmorChallenge Is Off With a Bang

Sept. 25, 2007

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- There's no greater relief -- or better reward -- than learning that when your armor systems and security products are put to the ultimate test, they meet the challenge and ultimately save lives. That's why ArmorLine Corporation, a global provider of force- protection and specialized security products, is pleased to announce registration for ArmorChallenge-2008 (http://www.ArmorChallenge.com) to be hosted at the Double Arrow Explosive Services, Inc. (DAES) facility just north of Ft. Campbell, KY, April 22-24, 2008.

Unlike other industry shows, ArmorChallenge offers armor-system developers and manufacturers the unique opportunity to demonstrate product capabilities, and potential, in real-world threat scenarios, and for ArmorChallenge-2008 the threats just got bigger -- Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG's), Explosively Formed Projectiles (EFP's), and live mortar rounds.

"While many vendors conduct R&D testing in-house, many often lack access to or financial resources for specialized munitions and explosives representative of the threats our troops and personnel face in the field. ArmorChallenge is a unique opportunity for them to demonstrate and market their products live, before representatives from U.S. military and government agencies, engineering and architectural firms, materials manufacturers, armor integrators, end-users, venture capitalists and private equity firms -- those who buy, use, and invest in these products," said Forrest "Skip" Carroll, coordinator for ArmorChallenge-2008. "ArmorLine facilitates real-threat demonstrations that are affordable for the small, entrepreneurial companies and valuable to the large defense companies, those who drive innovation. In addition to armor-piercing projectiles, and undercarriage grenade demonstrations, ArmorChallenge-2008 will offer RPG's, EFP's, and a live mortar shell IED blast. Our vendors really appreciate the cost-effectiveness of these state-of-the-art threat scenarios. Plus, attendees are thrilled to witness the products in action and know what their capabilities or potential are up front."

Given the success of 2007 ArmorChallenge, this year's attendance is expected to more than triple to nearly 300 vendors and participants. "We are especially excited about working with Double Arrow; they have a great facility, technical capabilities and firsthand knowledge of the threat," said Carroll.

Matt Donovan , president of Double Arrow Explosive Services, Inc., echoed the sentiment: "As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Double Arrow Explosive Services is pleased to host the 2008 ArmorChallenge as part of our company's ongoing effort to provide the absolute best protection available to America's Warfighter in the 21st century battlespace."
