The United Kingdom's Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Uses Autonomy Meridio to Improve Regulation of Member Firms

June 2, 2008

CAMBRIDGE, England and BELFAST , June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autonomy Meridio (LSE: AU. or AU.L), the leading provider of policy-based retention and disposition management software for the enterprise, today announced that the United Kingdom's Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has implemented its records management solution to more effectively regulate UK surveyors firms. Autonomy Meridio's records management solution is a critical component of RICS' new case management solution that makes the information related to the investigation and handling of cases brought against surveyor's firms more transparent and consistent. RICS estimates that the new system can save more than GBP250000/annum in manual processing and analysis costs. Meridio partner, Kainos, was the Systems Integrator, for the project.

RICS is the leading organisation of its kind in the world for professionals in property, land, construction and related environmental issues. As part of its role, it helps to set, maintain and regulate standards. It has 140,000 members, operating out of 146 countries and regulates some 12,000 surveyors firms across the UK.

To better comply with the new rules introduced by RICS, it was necessary to implement a new records management solution and new storage processes to ensure that the data relating to the investigation of all cases are easily accessible by authorized users and one that can scale to meet its increasing business demands. RICS commissioned Meridio's partner, Kainos, to help integrate a solution that enables it to manage and track all case-related documents and correspondence, including emails, faxes, letters and phone calls. The solution, which is based on Autonomy Meridio's records management solution, allows RICS to convert documents from paper-based to electronic format, and includes an email gateway for efficient routing of in-bound emails. Kainos helped RICS to design a customized user interface that seamlessly integrates with existing RICS systems.

Since the implementation, RICS' staff members now have easy access to the most up-to-date and relevant case information, regardless of their locations, allowing them to provide a higher level of service and respond to queries quickly and consistently whilst managing many more cases than could previously be handled. The case documentation is categorized by firm, member and ID and provides a very transparent and audit proof system for tracking case information and supporting documentation.

Commenting on the project, Jon Freeman , senior project manager of RICS said, "Kainos worked with us as our partner in this project and they were professional and responsive. We were also impressed by their extensive knowledge of the Autonomy Meridio product. The case management solution has taken the complexity out of the regulation process and has resulted in better service delivery and a more effective operation."

"All global organisations now have to deal with the increasing large volume of electronic documents, including correspondence in many different formats, which can be overwhelming to IT departments," said Nigel Hutchinson , CEO of Autonomy Meridio. "The Autonomy Meridio's records management solution can help customers to manage this information efficiently whilst meeting regulatory responsibilities and delivering a high level of customer service. We are very pleased to partner with Kainos to power RICS' new case management solution, allowing it to comply with the new legislation and deliver significant business benefits to the organisation."
