DC Area Iranian-Americans Applaud Nuclear Revelations by Iranian Resistance, Call for UN Sanctions Against Tehran Regime

Feb. 26, 2008

WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Iranian-Americans of the Greater Washington, DC area held a rally in front of the White House on February 25, 2008 , to call on the UN Security Council to expeditiously impose comprehensive sanctions against Iran's ruling regime's continued defiance of UNSC resolutions demanding immediate suspension of uranium enrichment.

The rally by the Iranian-American supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the democratic opposition's Parliament-in-exile, took place as the representatives of Britain, China , France , Germany , Russia and the United States met in Washington to coordinate their diplomatic efforts at the Security Council.

Chanting "No Talks with Mullahs; Impose Sanctions on Mullahs Now; Khamenei, Ahmadinejad, Rafsanjani Must Go," the participants called for immediate military, technological, diplomatic, and oil sanctions on the regime in Iran .

They praised the stance by NCRI's President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi , who has called on the international community to "prevent the mullahs' regime from acquiring the bomb." In a statement Mrs. Rajavi warned that "the inhumane and anti-Iranian regime was trying to obtain nuclear bomb in order to guarantee its survival...to cover up the increasing domestic crisis on one hand and their growing international isolation on the other."

The rally also applauded the Iranian Resistance and its pivotal member, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) for exposing Tehran's nuclear weapons facilities last week. The scope of revelations and frantic reaction of an irate Ahmadinejad to them once again underlined the undisputable contribution of the Iranian Resistance to world peace.

Persistent nuclear revelations by the NCRI and PMOI, dating back to 1990s and the groundbreaking August 2002 unveiling of secret nuclear sites in Natanz and Arak, are in line with the Resistance's patriotic responsibilities to shield Iran and Iranians from the catastrophic consequences of mullahs' terrorist and nuclear adventurism.

The participants in the rally declared that sanctioning the mullahs' financial and military networks to deprive them from using Iran's wealth and natural resources to fund terrorism and develop nuclear weapons, are in line with the Iranian people's highest national interests. The rally supported Mrs. Rajavi's statement that "the mullahs' regime had brought nothing but suppression and poverty to the Iranian people. All its projects including the nuclear one and export of fundamentalism and terrorism had cost Iranians billions of dollars."
