Jan. 30, 2008

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced that it has become a founding corporate member of The Climate Registry (TCR). TCR is a non-profit organization established by 39 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, six Canadian provinces, two Mexican states, and three Native American tribes to measure and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions in a common, accurate and transparent manner consistent across industry sectors and borders. TCR's founding members include leading corporations, local and regional governments, and other organizations taking early voluntary action to measure and understand their own environmental footprint, demonstrate innovation and improve efficiency.

"SAIC has demonstrated exemplary environmental leadership by stepping forward to support TCR in its preliminary stages. We are grateful for their integral support in helping to address the challenge of climate change," said Gina McCarthy, TCR chair.

As a founding member, SAIC will measure, independently verify and publicly report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on an annual basis utilizing TCR's General Reporting Protocol. The protocol is based on the internationally recognized GHG measurement standards of the World Resources Institute and World Business Council on Sustainability.

"We joined TCR as one of the proactive steps we are taking as a corporation to assess the impact we have on the environment and mitigate it in the long term," said Ken Dahlberg , SAIC chairman and chief executive officer. "SAIC also provides a wide range of climate change services -- including policy development, strategic planning, energy management and infrastructure planning -- to help government and commercial clients address these issues."
