Company plans $28 million, 365,000-s.f. headquarters and distribution facility

Nov. 16--FORT WORTH -- Allied Electronics recently completed the purchase of 40 acres in Riverbend Business Park West, where the company said it will begin construction in March of a $28 million, 365,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution facility.

The company recently was awarded a 10-year, $1 million tax abatement from the City Council for the facility.

Roxanne Martinez, Allied Electronic's marketing manager, said the building is expected to be completed in summer 2007.

The new facility, at 7101 S. Jack Newell Blvd. in east Fort Worth, will nearly double the amount of space that Allied Electronics has less than a half-mile away.

Allied employs 275 workers in Fort Worth.

Allied Electronics, a subsidiary of Electrocomponents in Oxford, England, distributes electronic components, such as semiconductors used in cellphones and computers.

It operates 57 sales branches in the United States and Canada.

The project is being completed to accommodate the company's growth, which is expected to create an additional 300 jobs during the next several years, the company said.

Allied Electronics bought the land, near Handley Ederville Road, from LRB Holdings in Fort Worth.
