ASSE to Hold Conference for Future Occupational Safety Leaders

DES PLAINES, IL – The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the ASSE Foundation, with generous support from Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group, will provide updates on what’s new from a hiring perspective for students, workplace safety case studies, professional preparation and more at its 2005 National Future Safety Leaders Conference in Cleveland, Ohio this November 3-5. Nearly 100 invited ASSE student members will participate in a weekend filled with opportunities to learn essential leadership and career development skills.

This year’s workshop topics include the importance of self-development, being a safety leader and a review of best practices from the field. Safety, health and environmental professionals, members of ASSE, from across the country will provide the student attendees with key professional development information and insight aimed at helping them find a job in their selected field and at the same time increase their knowledge in the area of occupational safety and health.

“We look forward to providing these students with the tools they need to move forward in their studies and in finding a job in the growing international field of occupational safety, health and the environment,” ASSE President Jack H. Dobson, Jr., CSP, said today. Dobson will address the students the opening day. Additionally, technical tours will be offered including a tour of the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Liberty Mutual Group is a major supporter of the ASSE Foundation, annually funding a student scholarship and a research fellowship at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety in Hopkinton, MA. Additionally, this year Liberty is a major sponsor of the November ASSE Future Safety Leaders Conference through the ASSE Foundation.
