Here's a sampling of some of the features and enhancements available in the Video Management Software technology space at the ISC West show:
NICE Systems
In addition to its PSIM systems, Nice Systems has enhanced its NiceVision VMS to include a banking module. "It is integrated into ATMs, and the user interface makes it easy for users to correlate ATM transactions and video surveillance footage," said Karen Krivaa, director of global marketing.
She described another module that allows for the "management of distributed sites from a central location."
Of Course, Nice's resident expert, Dr. Bob Banerjee, a frequent contributor to Security Technology Executive, Security Dealer & Integrator and securityinfowatch.com, was excited about some of the opportunities that the Situator PSIM system is able to create for its users, namely the NiceInform debriefing tool.
"Once you resolve an incident, the need to analyze it – debriefing is the key," he said. "(with a new module), you can re-enact an entire incident. This isn't just a report, you can replay everything moment-by-moment and analyze where there were errors or situations that needed to be avoided. It's a great way to be better prepared....it's a training opportunity."
OnSSI
Ocularis-X server software, the latest innovation from OnSSI was introduced at ISC West. It enables users to view "megapixel, unlimited bandwidth, full-motion video in a web browser, without having to add anything to the browser itself," according to Brad Anderson, the company's national sales manager.
HE added that the video plays at 30 frames per second in HD video.
OnSSI displayed the remote, offsite HD video on a screen at its booth side-by-side with an onsite HD cameras connected to an Ocularis system. The difference was negligible, if that.
Additionally, VSaaS (Video Surveillance as a Service) providers can use the software to deliver high-speed, high-resolution, multi-camera video to their clients.
Milestone
Milestone Systems was focused on the usability of its software at the show. The XProtect Smart Client 7 is available in 26 languages, and the user interface has been redone. The software can also be tailored for specific operator and environmental requirements by selecting a light or dark theme to correspond with the ambient room lighting or the video's brightness.
Other features on display included an independent playback function; an alarm list, which gives a clear overview of active alarms and their severity; a timeline feature for incident investigation; and encryption, digital signatures and other functions for creating secure evidence.
Additionally, Milestone displayed its XProtect Corporate 5 system, with new features including edge storage, multi-live streaming, and more.
American Fibertek
The Pilot v.5 VMS from American Fibertek can now be integrated with Point-of-Sale workstations, which was on display at its booth. The software is also now compatible with cameras and DVRs from Panasonic and Samsung, along with cameras from Arecont Vision and Pelco.
The softwae includes management tools to capture and register events; log and measure task performance and provide advanced management reports. Up to20 HD cameras can be viewed at 25 FPS with less than 30-percent processor usage. Other upgrades include a video wall, system analytics and language capability.
Genetec
The latest innovation from Genetec is its unified web client for its Security Center platform, which enables users to view video, control PTZ cameras, configure aspects of their access control and license plate recognition (LPR) systems, and run reports from the most web browsers. Users have nothing to download; instead, users simply require a link to the Security Center mobile server hosting the web pages.
Verint
Among the new features are enhancements in the Nextiva Video Management Software are the expansion of third-party device integrations, and additional system performance and reliability options. These enhancements include seamless integration of alarms with associated video clips, synchronized multi-camera playback and advanced system health monitoring capabilities for events. Dual recording also is now available for organizations that need to simultaneously record video to recorders in separate geographic locations. Further, Nextiva features additional integrations with third-party cameras, and expanded high availability and disaster recovery options.
