IR sticks to core hardware

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies (IR), Carmel, Ind., continues to pursue its focus on its hardware products, recently announcing that Vanderbilt LLC, located in Parsippany, N.J., acquired the IR Software & Controllers business unit. The product portfolio includes SMS, SEVMS (video management system) and the bright blue access control systems.

Vanderbilt management had a presence at the IR booth at ASIS 2012 and will continue to work with IR in a partnership arrangement with the company to continue to bring the software-based solutions to the channel and market it to new and existing customers.

“We will have an OEM partnership arrangement with IR,” said Mitchell Kane, general manager of Vanderbilt, commenting that the sale was effective August 31.

IR’s core strategic direction is to sell hardware solutions, Kane added. “There will be significant investment in development in the near future and we will continue to support the large installed base of product and on distribution through the security integrator channel.”

Vanderbilt LLC is wholly owned and led by industry veterans Joe Grillo, chief executive officer and Will West chief financial officer/chief operating officer. Grillo ran HID prior to its sale to Assa Abloy AB in 2001 and headed up its $700 million Global Technology Division. West was most recently chief financial 0fficer of HID Global.
