SD&I hands out Fast50 at ISC West

Top 10 companies honored

Security Dealer & Integrator magazine honored the top 10 of its Fast50 at an awards ceremony yesterday at ISC West sponsored by SIA and Reed Exhibitions. John Carter of CarterBrothers was honored as the fastest-growing security integrator.

SD&I’s Fast50 ranks the top 50 fastest-growing security dealers and integrators. The program was begun four years ago in an effort to recognize the entire landscape of security systems contracting, from alarm dealers and installers to systems integrators — especially the many smaller companies that make up the biggest chunk of our industry.

Fast50 is based on a level playing field for all companies, no matter the size. Dealers and integrators submitted financial information for their past three operating years, and their rank in the Fast50 is based on their year-to-year percentage growth and revenue growth, with their overall ranking balancing those two considerations.

Here’s a look at the top 10 companies and who accepted the awards. For a complete look at the Faet50, please visit www.securitydealer.com:

The top-ranked company in the fast50 is a familiar face to many in our industry. Represented by CEO John Carter, CarterBrothers has been around since 2000, but John and chairman Cris Carter literally had to rebuild the company after a late 2012 sale of the majority of its assets to Tyco Integrated Security. Powered by aggressive acquisitions and organic growth in the national accounts space, the Atlanta-based firm has grown by leaps and bounds since the sale – with the third highest three-year growth percentage in the history of the Fast50.

Securadyne Systems rose from No. 39 in 2013, to No. 4 last year to No. 2 this year. Carey Boethel has overseen an operation as aggressive in its organic growth as it is in acquisitions. The Carrollton, Texas-based firm specializes in providing customers with business solutions from concept to completion with a core focus in security design, engineering, and installation.

No. 3 is Perimeter Security Group of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, which was represented by Troy Blood, Systems Design & Development Manager. PSG is making its second consecutive appearance in the top 5 and has grown from a residential provider of fence and gate systems to a providing turnkey perimeter security installation for federal, municipal and private projects.

No. 4, CM3 Building Solutions of Fort Washington, Pa., was represented by president Bruce Michelson, Security division manager Bill Lawrence and security division operations manager Jim Fitzgibbon. CM3 is a newcomer to the Fast50 and is in the top 5 in total dollar growth to go with a nearly 50% three-year growth percentage.

No. 5 was the My Alarm Center operation of Alarm Capital Alliance, represented by Kelly Bond, Senior Vice President of Business Development, and Jason Grelle, Vice President of Business Development. Embracing organic growth, coupled with its traditional acquisitions model has positioned the company for solid growth for years to come. Thanks to aggressive growth, the company has risen to #5 from its #22 rank last year.

Ranked No. 6 was A3 Communications of Irmo, South Carolina, represented by company president Brian Thomas and Scott Grainger, Vice President of Physical Security. A3 was on the Fast50 stage last year as the #4-ranked company.

No. 7 was Netronix Integration of San Jose, Calif., represented by president Craig Jarrett. Netronix is no stranger to Fast50 success, with rankings of #10, #11 and now #7 in the last three years.

No. 8 was Star Asset Security of Alpharetta, Ga., represented by Carolinas Branch General Manager Joe Harris. Powered by an extremely successful 2014, the company has risen from #24 last year into the top 10.

No. 9 Continental Computers and WLANmall.com of El Segundo, Calif., was represented by vice president Ronen Isaac. The company shot up the rankings from #28 to #9 this year based on a very high dollar growth in 2014.

Finally, coming in at number 10 was Minuteman Security Technologies of Andover, Mass., represented by CEO Joe Lynch. Minuteman has enjoyed steady growth over the past three years, both in profits and in personnel.
