WSC kicks off with bang! The Women’s Security Council, www.wscouncil.com, kicked off its events at ISC West with a standing room only gathering at the V Bar in the Venetian this evening and the vibes were positive and upbeat. Close to 100 attendees, including systems integrators, manufacturers, distributors, consultants and others crowded the V Bar and gathered to help launch the revitalized organization, formerly known as Women in Security Electronics. Platinum sponsors Reed-ISC Events and others, including Siemens Industry, Milestone Systems, Next Level Security Systems, Mobotix and CompassPR hosted the networking reception, which brought rave reviews from those in attendance who indicated it was time for a new organization to take hold and further the success of women in the industry. Rebranded the Women’s Security Council, the organization reopened its membership last month and began other activities for the organization, including a panel discussion slated for Thursday, April 7 at 1 p.m. in room 502 at ISC West. Later this year, WSC plans to start an online newsletter, launch a directory of members and host another educational event at ISC Solutions as well as initiate a women’s leadership awards program. According to Rhianna Daniels, founding committee member of WSC and managing director of CompassPR in Grayslake, Ill., the networking vehicle for successful professionals is designed to empower women to realize their potential as industry leaders. “Judging by the interest we’ve received with a launch of a new Web site at www.wscouncil.com, our new LinkedIn group, and for the reception and educational panel at ISC West, the time feels right for the organization,” she said. Daniels added that WSC is a not-for-profit organization seeking ongoing sponsorships from the industry and that interested women can contact Rhianna Daniels at [email protected] or [email protected] to provide input or assist with the new organization. –Deborah O’Mara, editor, Security Dealer & Integrator magazine
