ESX off with accolades

The Electronic Security Expo, official show of the Electronic Security Association (ESA) and the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA),  kicked off yesterday and ended a great day of education and networking with the presentation of the industry’s two most prestigious awards—the Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award and the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award. The event, held at the August Wilson Center near the show headquarters, also focused on the CSAA’s 60th anniversary year in 2010.

David Koenig, owner of Capital Lock Inc. in Wisconsin, received the Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award for his contributions to the ESA. Honeywell was a presenting sponsor of the award.

James Orvis, president of Security Solutions in Connecticut, was honored with the Morris F. Weinstock Award for his efforts on behalf of the industry and associations. UTC was a presenting sponsor of the award.

The industry celebration—which brought together some of the original central station and alarm company founders of the industry—also made the presentation of its annual scholarship award to Claire Williams, an Indiana student with a 4.0 grade point average and the daughter of a first responder. She will attend West Point this fall.

In addition, Debby Miller, wife of ESA outgoing president Mike Miller, received special recognition for her dedication to her husband and his efforts as the leader of ESA – Deborah L. O’Mara, editor in chief, Security Dealer & Integrator magazine
