The guns on campus issue is raising its head again – this time at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The campus is one of a few in the country where students can legally carry concealed weapons.
Now the police chief, the president’s cabinet and the faculty senate are looking to end that practice. But the student senate wants to maintain the status quo.
According to a student resolution, every shooting on an American college or university campus occurred where students were not allowed to carry concealed weapons. Bans on concealed weapons leave students vulnerable to rape, robbery and assault.
But the chair of the faculty council said potential shooters won’t be stopped by the threat of other students carrying guns and that more weapons on campus will only increase the opportunity for more people to be injured.
