The Security Industry Association, Central Station Alarm Association and The Electronic Security Association presented two prestigious awards during ISC East as part of the Tri-Association Awards Dinner and Gala. Built around the theme of “The Gilded Age,” and held at The Lighthouse on Chelsea Pier 61 in New York City with spectacular views of the Hudson River, the organizations honored two well-known industry figures and philanthropists: Alan Forman of Altronix and John Murphy of Vector Security.
Forman, president of Altronix Systems in Brooklyn, N.Y., received the 2009 George R. Lippert Memorial Award for his dedicated service not only to the industry, but more importantly, to children in need. Forman has sponsored more than 35 children from underprivileged countries in need of lifesaving open heart surgery through Gift of Life International. He’s also extremely active in Technion Research and Development Foundation and Mission 500.
“Quite frankly, I still can’t believe this is happening to me,” Forman said. “I accept this award on behalf of Altronix, who made everything what it is,” he told the audience. “Our goal was never to win anything and certainly never to get rich. From the bottom of my heart, I’m privileged to receive this honor and I’ll continue to work hard for the industry, with the goal of giving back,” he said.
Winner of the 2009 Triton Award was John Murphy, president of Vector Security, one of the top systems integration companies in the U.S. Murphy has 30 years industry experience and is past president of the Central Station Alarm Association as well as a recipient of the 2008 Stanley C. Lott Memorial Award.
"This award is really all about the industry working together,” Murphy said in his acceptance speech. “My view is that working as one we can do so much more than what we can do separately. This award is a symbol of what we can do collectively as an industry, and for us together to continue to confront the challenges we are currently faced with.
