WPA cracks start to open

Sept. 11, 2009

Japanese researchers announced this week that they have found an attack on WPA, which stands for Wi-fi Protected Access. WPA is what replaced WEP once it was broken by security researchers (if you're still using WEP, change to WPA2 now; don't delay). This is fairly significant for security integrators who are doing wireless systems using wi-fi. Keep in mind that it doesn't reflect a total breakdown of WPA, so let's not overstate the seriousness of this crack. Read up on the crack on Cisco's blog here.
