Counterfeit money and a bad economy

Today's recommendation is a great article on MSNBC's website today by their reporter Alex Johnson about an increase in counterfeit money. The article references one counterfeit operation that has been linked to about $60,000 in fake bills in the Greensboro area of North Carolina.

One other thing that the article points out is retailers should be aware that counterfeiters have broken the "pen test". This is the test that checks for trace chemicals that should be present, and it's performed by running a special pen across the bill. If you don't do this test yourself at your own retail establishment, you've probably seen it done...especially if you've ever paid with a $20 or larger bill at a convenience store.
