Satellite pic of hijacked Saudi tanker

Nov. 22, 2008

A note this Saturday morning from Houston-based Satellite Imaging Corporation provides a bird's eye view of the Sirius Star, the Saudi-owned supertanker. This is from the company's Ikonos satellite, which is designed for commercial imaging. But just two months ago, the company successfully launched the Geo-Eye1 satellite, which was a commercial and military partnership for high-resolution satellite images of the Earth. Even Google, which uses satellite imaging for its Google Earth and Google Maps applications, was part of this latest launch. Here's a resized image of the Sirius Star from Nov. 20, 2008.
