AT&T plans to enter home security, automation market

Company to reportedly launch new 'Digital Life Services' division

According to a story published last month by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, AT&T will soon enter the security and home automation market through a new division that will be setup within its AT&T Mobility business.

The new "Digital Life Services" division will reportedly provide customers with residential security and energy management services.

Several other telecommunications and cable firms have announced similar offerings. This past summer, Verizon launched a new home control and monitoring system and cable giant Comcast announced that it was expanding its Xfinity Home Security service to additional markets.
