Janet Napolitano to be honored during Security Week Gala

DHS secretary elected to receive the Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9/11 Award


Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will receive the Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9/11 Award at the Security Week Gala, which is being hosted by the Security Industry Association and the International Association of Airport & Seaport Police (InterPort Police), on Nov. 2 in New York City.

According to a statement, the award recognizes Napolitano’s efforts to secure the nation from a wide variety of threats. The award is named for the late superintendent of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, the highest-ranking of 37 port authority officers to perish at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

The George R. Lippert Memorial Award, which is presented to an individual for their contributions to the security industry and SIA – will also be given out at the gala. Steve Roth, CEO of Tri-Ed/Northern Video Distribution will receive the 2011 Lippert Award.

The gala is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lighthouse on Chelsea Pier 61. Click here for more information about the event.
