Manufacturers announce PSIA-compliant products for 2012

Honeywell, UTC and Tyco plan to release new access control, intrusion products that conform to organization’s specs

The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA) announced this week that several of its members plan to release commercial access control and intrusion products in 2012 that conform to the organization’s specifications.

Among the companies that will release products that conform to PSIA specs in 2012 include Honeywell, UTC Fire & Security and Tyco.

"The PSIA systems suite of specifications is what the industry wants and needs," said security consultant Ray Bernard. "Providing interoperability between all parts of the physical security system will save customers a considerable amount of money and reduce the time and frustration that often accompanies product integration."

In addition, PSIA said that Stanley Security (Sonitrol), Assa Abloy, VidSys, NICE Systems, and Inovonics are also active in the organization’s PSIA Area Control efforts.
