Nio Security, a company specializing in intelligent video, has appointed Dr. Espen Brodin as its CEO. Brodin previously was serving as acting CEO and had been a board member and chairman of the company's board, and comes aboard as the company gets ready to launch a "turnkey security solution platform" they are calling "Satis".
Brodin previously served as managing director of Norway-based FAST Search & Transfer, and has held senior positions at Accenture Consulting and several banks in Oslo, Norway.
The new system, which is said to be named after an Egyptian goddess who was responsible for the floods of the Nile River and defense of Egypt's frontier with Nubia (hence the application of "security"), integrates the Dynapel video products, which includes smart video cameras and devices that provide in-line video enhancement. The details on Satis are fairly limited at this point, but this complete solution is said to be the product of 18 months of R&D; the company says it will be announcing the product and providing details at the 2010 ISC West security tradeshow.
As Satis is revealed this spring, the company will also be simultaneously discontinuing its Tempest line of DVRs.
"Satis will be the platform and brand that takes Nio into a solutions-based business model," explained Brodin, in a prepared statement.
