PSIA releases v1.0 spec for video recording and content management

Spec designed to allow control for VMS systems of multiple recording devices

The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA) announced today the release of v1.0 of its Recording and Content Management specification. The specification is designed to standardize product interfaces for recording devices and video management systems (VMS) such that a single VMS can be used to manage and view recorded video.

The PSIA says the standard is designed to "reduce costs for solutions providers" and "help secure investments in hardware and software as security management systems that support the RaCM specification will support existing DVR/NVR solutions."

Prior to the release of v1.0 of the RaCM specification, the organization released its v1.0 API Media Device specification for video devices (e.g., cameras, encoders). The organization reviews its specifications via its membership, which features a broad array of technical companies working in the security industry.
