ATLANTA, Dec. 8, 2009 - Systems integrator Siemens announced this week that Hamid Akhavan, the chief operating officer for Europe’s largest phone company, Deutsche Telekom, will be resigning his current position to take over as CEO of the company’s Enterprise Communications Group (SEN).
Akhavan will start his new position in February, at which point Interim CEO Mark Stone will return to his role as Executive Chairman.
"Hamid Akhavan is the ideal person for appointment at SEN. He is a respected expert in this field and has outstanding managerial and entrepreneurial qualities, which he has demonstrated on numerous occasions,” said Joe Kaeser, chief financial officer of Siemens AG in a prepared statement. “We are very pleased that he will be moving the positive development of the SEN business up to a new level.”
