DHS: Body scanners to be deployed at additional airports

The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday that body imagers purchased with stimulus funds have been deployed at 28 additional airports across the country.

According to a statement issued by DHS, the agency has purchased 450 advanced imaging machines to date with stimulus funds and plans on deploying them at more airports in the near future.

"Deploying advanced imaging technology at these airports strengthens our ability to protect the traveling public in the face of evolving threats to aviation security," said Secretary Napolitano. "Through the Recovery Act, we are able to continue our accelerated deployment of enhanced technology as part of our layered approach to security at airports nationwide."
