APOPKA, Fla. --

One of two teens who allegedly attacked a Sheeler High School student was accidentally shot and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center Wednesday.

Students will return to the Sheeler campus Thursday morning after the shooting.

"It was very shocking, very surprising that this happened, I never would have expected it, especially out of the boy that did it," student Jenny Helmick said.

Police said Rodrick Brown, 17, and another teen attacked a student on the Sheeler campus.

Officers said Brown's gun fired during the scuffle and hit the other attacker. The targeted student was not hurt. Investigators said the two attackers are not students at Sheeler.

Brown faces charges of having a gun at a school, firing a gun on school grounds and disrupting school.

The injured teen, who is expected to recover, is accused of battery and trespassing.

A letter went home with students to explain the incident to parents.
