Smith & Wesson acquires Universal Safety Response

Acquisition to help company enter perimeter security market

ATLANTA, July 24 - In an effort to make inroads into the perimeter security market, Smith & Wesson announced this week that it has acquired Tennessee-based security system solutions provider Universal Safety Response.

According to a statement issued by Smith & Wesson, the acquisition will help expand the company’s revenue base into commercial, non-firearm sectors. USR, which will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Smith & Wesson, are the creators and patent holders of GRAB vehicle safety barriers.

“USR is a tremendous compliment to our own Smith & Wesson brand and products, expanding our reach beyond firearms, and into the broader market for products and services that exemplify safety, security and protection,” said Smith & Wesson President Michael F. Golden. “We look forward to building and expanding our businesses across the globe, and we want to thank all of our employees, at Smith & Wesson and at USR, for their continued dedication and our resulting success."
