Smart Card Alliance develops new smart card certification program

CSCIP/G certification track to provide more details on government smart card market

The Smart Card Alliance announced this week that it has developed a new smart card training program for government identity and security professionals.

In a statement released by the organization, SCA Executive Director Randy Vanderhoof said that the alliance decided to develop the new CSCIP/G program because they recognized the need for a more detailed training program on the government smart card market than what the CSCIP (Certified Smart Card Industry Professional) certification track currently provides.

"The use of smart card technology has become a mainstay in the U.S. federal government, securing identities in programs like the FIPS 201 PIV card for all government employees, the DoD's Common Access Card, the Transportation Worker Identification Credential and the First Responder Authentication Credential," he said.
