Former student charged in threats against college

March 24, 2011, BOSTON -- A Connecticut man was charged today in federal court with making threats against Stonehill College.

The 23-year-old, of North Branford, Conn., was arrested today and charged in a criminal complaint with the transmission of a threat to injure the person of another. The complaint alleges that on March 17 and 18, 2011, the former student at Stonehill College sent a series of text messages to a current student at Stonehill College, threatening to blow up Stonehill College and kill two staff members of the college.

If convicted the man would face up to five years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
