According to a story published this week by the Omaha World-Herald, retailers in Omaha, Neb., are sharing information as part of a new initiative with local law enforcement authorities to combat theft.
The metro-area retail coalition, which includes both locally-owned stores and national chains, provides retailers with a chance to share information about recent incidents with each other and authorities.
"We’re really trying to be more effective," Omaha Police Sgt. Erin Dumont told the publication. "How can we help them? How can they help us?"
Dumont added that the coalition, which is comprised of about a dozen stores and four law enforcement agencies, has met monthly for more than a year now.
