Avigilon NVR software now ObjectVideo ready

Company joins OV Ready Partner Network

Avigilon, a manufacturer of megapixel video surveillance systems and management software, is now part of ObjectVideo's OV Ready Partner Network. The "OV Ready" aspect of the agreement means Avigilon is using an XML protocol for intelligent video that specifies rules, alerts and configurations for the devices. That OV Ready technology is being adopted in its Avigilon Control Center 3.8 video management software.

The Control Center software with its "high definition stream manager" can be delivered as either a standalone software for running on a PC or server, or as part of an Avigilon NVR. Besides the Control Center software, the company makes a wide variety of megapixel surveillance cameras, ranging from one megapixel up to 16 megapixels.

Essentially, an "OV Ready" system is compatible with ObjectVideo OnBoard devices -- devices that run the ObjectVideo video content analytics using the ObjectVideo specifications and design. ObjectVideo has licensed that technology out to a variety of camera, encoder and recorder companies, including Verint, Pelco, American Dynamics and March Networks.

Dave Tynan, vice-president of sales and marketing at Avigilon, said the partnership between ObjectVideo and his company -- which specializes in "high definition" surveillance -- can help deliver "faster response times, reduced investigation times, and superior overall decision making."
