New facility to replace current plant that is nearly 100 years old

BROOKVILLE, Pa. --

Officials came together Saturday to break ground for a new water plant in Brookville.

The multimillion dollar plant will replace the community's current plant along North Fork Creek. The current plant is nearly 100 years old.

Officials said the new plant will be one of the most technologically advanced facilities in the state.

Construction started a few months ago and excavation at the site is winding down, officials said.

Work at the site will continue for the next 18 months. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011.
