HID Global, a California-based manufacturer of access control solutions, announced this week that it will be rolling out its new Genuine HID program this month at the 2009 ASIS International Seminar and Exhibition.
According to Tony Ball, senior vice president of identity and access management for HID Global, the goal of HID Genuine is to put in place a set of values associated with HID solutions.
“It’s very much geared toward enhancing the customer experience and enabling our loyal channel partners to benefit from that is the key goal of the program,” he said.
The key features of Genuine HID, include guaranteed card-to-reader compatibility, seamless prox to smart card migration, one of the broadest product lines in the industry, a lifetime product warranty and global certifications. Third party products utilizing HID technology will now carry the “Genuine HID Technology” trademark.
“(Genuine HID) is all about HID bringing the full advantages of its broad product range to our partners under the program. It’s much more about being able to manage the lifecycle of our product,” Ball said. “One of the things that provides unique advantages to our customers is that when you take an HID product, you have flexibility and you have the ability to manage your lifecycle, which we believe is very unique in the marketplace. An example of that is when you take our access control readers and our cards and those cards cannot only be used for physical access, but logical access and then you have a full application suite to be able to take advantage of with that.”
In addition to HID Genuine, the company will also be discussing its Advantage HID Channel Partner program at the show. The program enables existing partners or those that join to be able to get advance information on products, as well as the ability to have HID products uniquely integrated into their systems, according to Ball.
