Plano, Texas deploys city-wide security platform

Looking to tie together disparate security systems, the city of Plano, Texas and its systems integrator Johnson Controls recently installed VidSys' PSIM software solution.

The PSIM solution allows the city to collaborate and share resources with multiple city agencies and public safety organizations in real-time. According to a statement, the City of Plano’s Department of Information Technology and Plano Police Department will be first agencies to integrate their security technology into the new network.

"We wanted to establish a city-wide security platform that would enable us to tightly coordinate with other agencies throughout the city for more effective management of situations," said David Stephens, director of technology services. "With the VidSys PSIM software, we are able to create a security and safety environment where there is one complete view of unfolding situations across multiple agencies and organizations, enabling us to better protect our citizens, first responders, and businesses."

Following the initial implementation, the city expects more agencies to join the network.
