Omni Perception and BAE Systems research advanced behavior recognition

SECURITY cameras will soon be so advanced they will be able to spot people's behaviour - not just their image, experts say.

The technology could predict railway suicides or trace missing persons simply by their movement rather than their picture.

The CCTV equipment can recognise if someone is acting nervously at a train platform and automatically alert security guards.

It will also be able to trace a wanted criminal from minute details such as a T-shirt.

Firm Omni Perception and BAE Systems have launched a pounds 1.5million research project into the new image recognition.

David McIntosh, of OmniPerception, said: "The potential of CCTV as a defensive security measure has yet to be realised."
