Tyco recalls about 540 SimplexGrinnell fire alarm control panels

Panel reportedly failed to alert monitoring center in two instances


Tyco Safety Products this week issued a voluntary recall of about 540 SimplexGrinnell fire alarm control panels.

According to a recall alert posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website, the company received two reports about the panels failing to alert monitoring centers. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled panel, the Simplex 4100U-NXP, was distributed by SimplexGrinnell from May 2010 to September 2010.

Building managers can contact SimplexGrinnell for a free software upgrade to fix the issue. The company is also contacting customers directly, according the recall alert.
