HID Global announced today that its parent company, ASSA ABLOY, has completed its acquisition of secure identity credentials provider LaserCard.
According to a statement issued by the company, the acquisition of LaserCard is expected to bolster HID’s position of the government ID market and will also significantly expand the company’s identity authentication and credential offerings.
"The combined HID Global and LaserCard organization delivers a unique value proposition to our customers and partners in the government-issued ID market," said LaserCard president Robert T. DeVincenzi. "No other company offers the same breadth of products, technologies and service capabilities to the government e-identity segment. We now have the opportunity to accelerate our growth and diversification in this space by leveraging HID’s innovation expertise, strong market momentum and extensive global coverage."
In addition to bolstering its position in the government ID sector, HID also says that the addition of LaserCard will help the company extend its "product development competencies" in secure credential technology and enhance its Identity-On-Demand (IOD) service offering.
