CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are investigating a shooting at a new school in northeastern Mecklenburg County.

Officer said a security guard was shot while making rounds at Stoney Creek Elementary, off Mallard Creek Road, near the Speedway.

Police said the security guard was shot twice but was not seriously hurt because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

The guard told police two men approached him while he was making rounds and one pulled out a gun, shooting the guard. The men then took off in a car.

Police have not made any arrests but they said they are looking for two black men. One of the men is heavyset and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. That man had dreadlocks and was wearing dark clothing. The second man was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. Investigators said they are looking for a red Honda Civic with a North Carolina tag that starts with TYP-9.

Stoney Creek is one of six new schools set to open in just two weeks.
