Access and secure identity solutions provider HID Global announced this week that it is partnering with multi-function printer manufacturers to integrate the company’s technology with secure printing solutions.
According to a statement issued by the company, by only allowing employees access to print on authenticated devices with their credentials, organizations will be able to reduce costs, as well as increase security and compliance.
As a result of its partnerships with printer manufacturers, HID says customers will be able to utilize an HID contactless card reader to implement controlled document printing in which printing will only be allowed once a user presents their credential to the device.
"Our customers are all feeling pressure to meet the demands for social responsibility and accountability while saving money. Controlling document printing is a very simple way for them to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize costs associated with printing and reduce their overall carbon footprint," said Debra Spitler, vice president of HID Connect at HID Global. "For companies with an existing investment in Genuine HID cards and readers, adding on secure printing is a smart decision. Organizations can reduce the amount of paper and energy they use and save on average of $150 to $250 per employee per year."
