Former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense Joins McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP

WASHINGTON , Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce that Paul McHale , former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense, has joined the firm in our Government Contracts Department. In his new role, he will support the firm's Life Sciences and Public Health Preparedness practice in their focus on Homeland Security and Disaster Planning, in addition to helping clients develop strategies for offering their products or services to federal, state and foreign governments.

Prior to being appointed Assistant Secretary, Paul McHale was elected to represent the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives, where he served for three terms. He was an active member of the House Armed Services Committee, which has oversight responsibility for all U.S. military operations and training. Additionally, as a Congressman, Paul McHale co-founded the National Guard and Reserve Components Caucus which advocates the interests of reservists and guardsmen worldwide.

His leadership has earned him numerous public service awards including the Reserve Officers Association Minuteman of the Year Award and the Department of Defense Distinguished Public Service Medal. Former Secretary McHale is a frequent lecturer on government, law and military policy and is an adjunct professor at the U.S. Army War College.

Paul McHale received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. with highest honors from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He is a retired colonel in the Marine Corps reserve, having served combat tours in Saudi Arabia , Kuwait , and Afghanistan . For his service in Afghanistan , Former Secretary McHale received the Baryal Medal, Afghanistan's highest award for public service.
