Trace Systems acquires SynExi

Government integrator adds IPv6-focused systems engineering firm


Federal systems integrator Trace Systems has purchased SynExi, a systems engineering group out of Fairfax, Va., that has specialized in IPv6 transitions. SynExi has provided service the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Navy, and the Small Business Administration. The firm was founded in 2006 by Dr. Chuck Lynch and Mr. Dale Geesey. Geesey will be staying on at Trace Systems as vice president of emerging technologies.

Trace Systems CEO Otto Hoernig III said the purchase of SynExi gives the company technical strengths that it needs for serving Trace's customers like the Department of Defense and Homeland Security. "We have seen significant growth in the number of requirements associated with IPv6, COOP, virtualization, and green computing over the last few years," said Hoernig, "and SynExi is a recognized leader in these domains."

Trace Systems' core offerings have been in providing "comprehensive communications, networking, information technology, and other C4ISR solutions and services" to the government sector. Trace Systems is based in McLean, Va.
