COPENHAGEN, Denmark --
A 47-year-old man who shot and killed a security guard at a Danish tax office has been convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The Copenhagen City Court says Joern Bundgaard Pedersen shot the guard during a fit of rage in November 2007. He claims the gun went off by accident.
Wednesday's ruling says Bundgaard Pedersen was furious at the authorities for seizing his flat because of unpaid taxes, and walked into a Copenhagen tax office, demanding a new apartment. After being rejected by the staff, he pulled out a gun and shot the guard, who tried to usher him out.
Bundgaard Pedersen has two weeks to decide whether to appeal.
